What are the top things people want to know to be successful in their online MLM? These are the most common things I hear -

How do I find people who will be interested in my MLM Business?

How do I get these people coming to me?

How do I convert them into MLM Business Partners?

How do I train my downline to do the same?

Great questions, and the good news - all of these have positive answers and can be done.

It took me awhile to figure out how to do this, and then even longer to figure out how to train my downline. But, I did master it, and you can, too.

One key piece I learned - find others who have the teaching concepts put together, study and learn them yourself and then point your prospects and team members to these same resources.

Brilliant! After all, this is a business of duplication, right?

Next question becomes, how do you know who to follow when everything sounds so good and enticing online? Great question, and one I have really struggled with myself.

Right now, I am referring people to Mike Klinger. He teaches in a style that is easy to understand, no matter how beginner you are, and he is very thorough.

Does Attraction Marketing in MLM really work online? It certainly seems to be the buzz word these days, doesn't it? Everywhere you look, someone is talking about it. But, how many people are really practicing it, and can it really be done?

How do you set yourself apart and draw customers and prospective business partners to you? Well, it's really fairly simple, and actually easier to do online than offline.

Think of the many people who you may have run across online who are "peddling" their MLM Opportunity. Spamming it is probably a better word choice. Most Network Marketers online think that the way to build online is to over-hype their opportunity to EVERYONE they come into contact with.

They buzz onto Facebook, make a zillion friends and then zap them all a message telling them how great their deal is; how much money they are making and how "just plain stupid" you are for not joining them yesterday!

How many times have you clicked to know more when you get these obnoxious posts? Probably none!

So how do you begin an MLM Attraction Marketing Magnet? How do you get people beating down your door to join your business?

I'm going to give you three key concepts to practice when you are marketing your business online.

Concept One - Be authentic. This is easier said than done for some, but seriously, how hard is it to just be yourself? Share your story and let people see who you are. Don't try to embellish your experiences in MLM or try to be a "success story" that you have not yet created.

Instead, share your successes and your failures; your hopes, goals and dreams. Talk about your motivation and reason why you are building a business. Share things that you have tried that didn't work out. Share what you see in your opportunity in a very real way, without using any hype.

These things are what will bond your prospect to you because there will likely be some common ground between you.

Concept Two - Provide content and value - give your knowledge away freely. You may have seen it said that you must be willing to give in order to get. Be willing to give away some of your "Secrets" to building successfully. Share tips and resources that have worked for you. Share as much free stuff as you can find.

It's okay to offer affiliate programs and other monetization models that help fund your business, but make sure you are not always coming after your prospects or your audience with your hand out. Give away more than you profit from, and make sure what you give away offers true value.

A good way to give away content of value is to do a review on a product or service you have used online. Or, perhaps explain an effective way you have discovered of using Facebook, or a particular application there. Have you figured out a great way to manage your Social Networking activities? This would be something great to share with an audience who will be hungry to know any time saving techniques you can offer.

Content and value are what reign supreme online and you will quickly generate a following and many prospects when you can be counted on for great information.

Concept Three - Become a consultant in the Network Marketing Profession. This doesn't mean give away all of your time, but be willing to devote some time to assisting those outside of your own downline. When someone comes to you with a problem or question, pick up the phone and give them a quick call if possible. You will likely make their jaw drop and they will appreciate and remember you for this.

Make sure you make that time about the person you are calling and not just a chance for you to go on and on about yourself or your business. Ask questions and listen. See if you can get to the heart of this person's need and find a way to provide a solution.

You never know when the time might come that this person will be looking to make a company change. I promise that the time you invested in that person and that phone call will stand out and likely prompt them to consider joining your team!

Attraction Marketing works like a charm if you will take the time to master the skills of coming from a place of contribution. Give generously and know that you will soon have prospects lining up at your door! Be ready to coach them to do the same!

There is a big difference between "failing" at MLM or Network Marketing and "quitting." So why is it that so many people say that they "failed" in the MLM Profession? They didn't fail, they quit!

There has long been a myth perpetuated that you have to get in at the beginning of a Network Marketing company in order to make the big money. That couldn't be less true.

Watch as Networking Professional Tim Sales shares with you how this is false and makes some comparisons that may surprise you.

Motivating Your MLM Downline.

You've started your MLM Business; you've sponsored enough people to get to your first promotion; and no one is doing anything. Does this sound familiar?

How do you motivate your MLM Downline?

I am often asked the "Motivation" question. It's a tough one because there are no easy answers. Motivation is an internal process.

Here are my answers to these questions.

First, I don't personally believe that it is possible to MOTIVATE another person. You can INSPIRE them through your actions and efforts, but motivation comes from within. It's something each person must get on his/her own.

Think about your own motivation. What can your sponsor, upline or anyone in MLM really do to motivate you to take action in your business?

Your won reason "why" for doing the business must be hugely compelling to you. It must be a non-negotiable thing that you will not be denied. It must be something that is on your mind daily so you are compelled to take action and achieve your MLM goals.

What ways have you been inspired in your MLM business? Who has inspired you and what was it about that person that was inspiring?

Ways to inspire include always being in action yourself. Do you have a company top sponsor list? Be on it so they see and know that you believe and are taking action.

Have a company newsletter? Be in it -share ideas and articles to educate.

Recognize achievements of your downline, both big and small. After all, the size of the accomplishment varies person to person and small steps grow to giant leaps.

Have tools and trainings to educate and interact with the team.

Be accessible - return emails and phone calls and be more than a robot. Take time to ask how things are going and make note of birthdays, etc.

Do you have incentive programs for your team?

Contests are very motivating for some and others couldn't care less. You'll want to play around with this concept and see if it is a fit for your program.

This is an area I have not been great at getting into action. I've done contests, incentive programs, etc, but have not seen it really produce more team growth. Those who are going to do it, DO IT for their own incentives, not mine!

Do you hold weekly, monthly or no team meetings? How about conference calls?

I hold a weekly team conference call since my team is all over the country, and have had holiday gatherings and occasional local meetings for those nearby. These have been very successful and I now realize the importance of team bonding and relationships! These types of gatherings are what spur people into attending bigger regional and national events.

I also hold a team meeting at our national company convention each year. This is REALLY fun! I do training, awards and recognition. Because I build my business all online, as do much of my team, it gives everyone a chance to put faces and names together and create lasting friendships beyond the business partnership.

If you do hold team meetings why do you think they are important and what do you cover at your team meetings? Think about these things and poll your team on what matters most to them.

Again, the bonding and friendships created can really sustain people and inspire them to move forward. We cover all different topics related to business. Get the team involved in assisting and coaching on topics they know!

Avoid taking on the responsibility of being the lead motivator to anyone but yourself. Coach others on exploring their own reasons, motivations and short comings and put each one in charge of his/her own personal growth and accountability.

Try this and I believe you will see a shift in the mindset of those who are going to make things happen!

I recently read a training article by a network marketer who revealed that his theory to success in his MLM business is making 75 to 100 dials a day to prospects.

That really got me thinking about Network Marketing in general and the duplication theory. How duplicable is it to expect that those who you enroll, especially if they are new to the industry, will really find making that many calls a day acceptable? How many will even get started in their business if they are taught that this is the way to success?

I know for me, had my sponsor introduced that to me as part of the business plan, I would have never signed up. I would have found something else. Not to suggest that a system like that won't lead to success, but what are the odds of finding many people willing to take on the task?

Where does one go about finding 100 people to call in a day? The Warm Market list? The phone book? Some worn out leads list?

How many hang ups would it take before your new member quits, never to be heard from again?

In my 15 years in this industry, I have to say I have never called 100 people in one day. Today, even as a six figure income earner, I average five to ten calls a day and these are to people who come to me through the internet, fill out the form on my website and ask me to contact them.

This is a much warmer contact, to say the least.

What image does it give about our industry to someone if they are coached to make these 100 dials a day? Is that what it really takes to make it in the business and how many people are truly willing to do this?

I subscribe to the law of attraction theory and am much more focused on creating a relationship based business filled with people who are interested, excited and ready to follow a much simpler plan. I am committed to having fun in my business and 100 dials a day, to anyone, does not sound like fun or something that would keep my interest for very long.

How about you? Are you up for 100 dials a day?

What am I missing?

I was recently asked by a member of my downline "What's our system and how do I find it?" Well, for me, the word "system" is always a tricky subject. There are several "systems" that can be used, and what is the best will depend a lot on the individual.

First, let me say that I define "system" as the method for finding prospects to contact, presenting, following up, sponsoring and duplicating, so there are several components to the "system."

There is the "warm market" system, which is what I consider a business launch, and the most simple system. It's a system of notifying those you know that you are in business. Simply notifying. Not bugging, harassing, or begging!

The system you use to present the information about your business should be pre-planned, and there should be several methods depending on your prospects needs and ability to receive information.

There is the mailed packet; email; website overview; 3 way call; opportunity call, etc. Check with your upline and see what is recommended.

After that, there are other "systems" available - running ads, buying leads, Chamber of Commerce/BNI, Shows and Expos, Walking and Talking, etc. Actually, these are the first steps in the system, or method for finding prospects.

Then, there is the internet and the ability to create a whole, new warm market online.

For me, I am an internet marketer and that is by choice. I consider myself to be an internet marketer FIRST, and within that I align with a network marketing company as my primary (but not only) revenue source.

There are many "systems" out there and the key is finding what is going to be a fit for you and fine tuning your target market to that way of doing it. There is someone for every system and way of building the business. Don't let anyone tell you that one particular way of doing things is wrong, slower, won't work, or non-duplicable. Every system will work if it is right for the person working it.

I've been told repeatedly that the internet system will never work and yet I have enormous success behind me, as do others on my team using that method to disprove that theory. Will it work for someone who despises technology and has no interest or passion for learning the internet? No.

Just like the shy, introvert who would rather die than do public speaking will not succeed with a system involving BNI and Chamber of Commerce meetings. Does it work? Sure, for the right individual.

I do this same basic thing as the simple, warm market system except I put a more technical step into it with the personal website. And, I build warm market using the internet and use more of an attraction marketing approach. This method won't be for everyone, and that is okay. I am very clear on the market I am targeting and I am willing to be patient until those people who match my demographic desire show up, if that makes sense.

I am very clear that my target is those who do embrace technology and want to learn to utilize this amazing tool as a method of business building.

Market leading with the product and you get people who want to sell products and not always those who want to build a team, so duplication stops. Market with the opportunity and you get people who are coachable about the team building side of things.

Decide who you want to market to, who you want to work with and how you want to work your business and find a coach/mentor who will pave the way for you!

That is a question I pondered for a LONG time. When was I ever going to figure out the "Holy Grail" of MLM Success?

Have you ever struggled with that?

I'm not sure what all happened exactly, but I know I made a commitment and decided I would follow the teachiings of those who had been there, done that. Sometimes I would watch people walk across the stage getting their big checks and think - "If THEY can do it, I can SURELY do it, too."

A little vain, I realize, and you may have had these thoughts as well. We know we have strengths that will support us, we just have to get them out!

Please take some time and listen as I share on an Interview with John Fogg, MLM Mastermind Sessions, about what it has taken for me to Get There! I hope my story inspires you, because I'm "just a mom" who wanted an amazing lifestyle for my family!

Attraction Marketing both online and offline is a strong key to success in Network Marketing. People WANT and NEED to believe in their potential sponsor and upline.

Here's the good news - you can develop all of the skills necessary to be an attractive sponsor and get people coming to you.

First, Rate Your AttractiornFactor as a potential sponsor

  • Attitude is everything - Do an Attitude Check - are you a positive or negative person?
  • Check your posture and state of mind
  • How strong is your belief in your product; the company and the industry? Your belief and enthusiasm will come through, high or low!
  • Do you listen? Do you sell or share? Practice listening more and talking less.
  • Do you follow up and honor your commitments?
  • Do you take things personally and look at a no as rejection?
  • Practice being brief and to the point.
  • Be willing to be bad to be good; good to be great.
  • Only time and practice gets you there. I'm good on the phone because I have talked with THOUSANDS of prospects.
  • Remember, you are NEVER desperate and you never need any ONE person

Here is a short video made to teach you how to effectively practice "Attraction Marketing" Online.

The first step to success in your Network Marketing business is to determine your why and set yourself up for success by KNOWING and BELIEVING in your WHY.

Ask any top leader and income earner in any company and they will tell you that your reason for pursuing a business is critical to your success.

  • What is the juice that makes your life worthwhile?
  • Create a vision for your life that is greater than your fears. It must be compelling enough that your fears pale in comparison to what you can have in your life
  • Key components of your powerful vision - Who will you be? What qualities? Who will you be with? What contributions will you make? What actions will you take?
  • The more attached to your vision you are the more contagious the enthusiasm you convey will come across to your prospect
  • Write out your perfect day in your perfect life once you have achieved the success you currently desire.

Always remember that what you EXPECT is what you get!

Whether you are working with leads, or your warm market, there are some probing questions you can make to determine whether or not your business might be a fit and how serious your prospect is.

It's important to remember that it is all about timing for your prospect. Often, when one begins thinking about a home business is not actually the time he/she is ready to begin a home business mentally, or physically. Remember this will save you from frustration when your prospect doesn't begin immediately.

Here are two questions that can help you determine the level and sincerity of your prospect as well as his/her reasons for the search.

It's actually 2 questions in one, and they fit together, revealing several key clues about your potential business partner.

Question 1 -

"How long have you been looking for a business from home?"

Listen to your prospects response and then question two -

"What happened XX time ago that started you searching?"

Question one tells you if they just hopped on last night and are tire kicking; or if they have been on the serious hunt for awhile.

Question two will tell you the reason why. Sometimes it's a new mother who just went back to work and cried all day after leaving her child at daycare. Sometimes it's the tenth time the prospect was passed over for a promotion. Maybe an aging parent who needs assistance.

Lots of reasons "why" out there.

Listen closely and then you can present your opportunity in such a way that shows him/her how your business is a fit for the reason "Why!"

And, again, remember that while your timing might be right now for your prospect to join you, it might not be quite right for him/her. Relax, give plenty of space, water the seeds you planted by following up with interest and timeliness and know that when the time is right, you'll be welcoming a new team partner on board.

Happy Prospecting!

Today, when I set off on my morning walk at Ventura Beach, I headed inland toward the foothills of the city.  Although I love walking the beach strand, with the seagulls, surfers, walkers and fresh ocean scent, I wanted a tougher work out.

I've walked this area before but as I came around a familiar turn, I saw a steeper road leading up further on the hill than I had ever noticed before. "Oh, geez" I thought. I didn't want to do it. My immediate instinct was -"no, I've done enough, time to head back." And, that second, small, inner voice said - "C'mon wimp. You wanted a tougher workout. Think how good you'll feel once you are at the top."

"I'll just go half way" said the first small voice and I headed up. I had already put in a solid walk, lots of up and down the foothills, and my heart rate was definitely up. After a 15 second internal battle of the wills, I knew that I had to keep climbing. I had to push myself just a little further and get that extra burn and, more importantly, that feeling of accomplishment!

As I got to the top and turned around to head back down, I stopped in my tracks. The view was stunning. All of Ventura Harbor, the Channel Islands and the wide open ocean spread out before me. A sailboat regatta was just coming out of the harbor along with 2 charter boats of visitors to the islands. Surfer's Point was off to the right and the water was filled with surfers, anticipating the next great wave. I couldn't believe my payoff for making the climb!

What if I had cut it short and missed the view from the top? What if I had decided that enough was enough and I would just "settle" for the norm? What if I had let the first small voice win out and determine my destiny for that day?

Do you ever do this in your business? I sure have. My network marketing career has been filled with days of "settling." I've had goals of making 10 dials and stopped after making the first call when someone hung up on me. I've made a business plan for the next day and scrapped it in favor of reading a good book because that was easier.

Ultimately, though, over time, I made the decision to keep going. Once I realized that it wasn't going to kill me, I made the decision to push myself a little more. And, then a little more. And, even more!

There are many hills to climb in building a Network Marketing business and many pop up when you least expect it. Sometimes, you'll come around a corner and see a really long hill that you hadn't seen before. You know you've walked that path, but you swear that hill wasn't there before. You have to climb that long, last hill for the day. You have to climb it every time it shows up. You may be tired, out of breath and out of water, but you do have it in you to keep pushing forward.

Just like the view of the harbor from the top of the hill on my walk, the view from the top of your successful network marketing business is incredible. Indescribable, even. Filled with things you can't even imagine.

On a recent call with John Fogg, he asked me what the best thing has been for me about network marketing. Without missing a beat, or thinking it through, I answered with the very first thing that came to mind - personal peace, satisfaction and the feeling of accomplishment.

It's not the money; the title; the plaques and awards. Those are nice, and they felt good at the time. But nothing even comes close to the feeling I have knowing that I did it. I hit the top 1% or smaller of network marketers. I pushed against the odds and overcame the biggest obstacle of all, myself, and made it to the top.

Nothing can ever take that away. Nothing. It's mine and I own it. I want you to own it, too. Put on your walking shoes and take the journey to the top. You can't even imagine what you will find there.

EXPECT Success!
