As I mentioned, my Network Marketing journey began in January, 1994. My first company was a telecommunications company and it was nearly $600 to get involved. I did fairly well in that company, until I realized that the company values did not match my own. And, there is nothing exciting or fun about telecommunications. It's all price related.
I was already using the Internet when I decided to change companies, so I went researching online. Everything kept pointing me to nutrition and the "next trillion dollar industry."
So, I researched and started with a nutrition and vitamin company and the big craze - "a juice deal!"
Here is what I found - while I am passionate about health and nutrition, most people are not, especially when they see the price tag. Yeah, they want health, weight loss, anti-aging; but when push comes to shove, that $150 or so price tag each month is a deal breaker.
Combine that with thousands of companies all out there touting how great their product is and how unique it is. Now, I can't be sure since I have not had any product lab tested, but I am certain the product I bought at Costco recently with the same ingredient name for 1/3 of the price of a well known juice company gave me the same results.
And, that's okay. I understand how MLM and pay plans work and understand that in order to pay a downline and big bonuses, there has to be a mark up, however, some of it seems like highway robbery! It was tough for me to justify this to my prospects and my downline. I couldn't say for certain that the product is better. I do know it costs a lot more, however.
I was looking for something new, something different, something fresh. And yet I was skeptical when I first heard of this company. How would I know that a company I shrugged off at first and had no interest in would be one that go as far as it has, with huge potential in expanding international markets?
What if you are walking by that company? Keep your mind open and remember that success almost never unfolds the exact way you expect it to.
